95+ S6 performance upgrades
I asked my local dealer (Schaumburg Audi) about performance upgrades
for my new end of 95 S6 wagon, here's what they suggested:
1. Replace the engine control unit with a Hoppins Motorsport unit.
This will increase turbo pressure to about 18 lbs, and horsepower by
about 45-50 hp. Around $650. He mentioned that TAP doesn't have a
unit for the most recent S6's yet, and IA is overpriced (in his humble
opinion.)
2. Replace the stock exhaust manifold from the manifold used on the
rs2, which will bring more exhaust force into the turbo. Good for
about another 15 hp. Around $900.
3. Replace the standard exhaust setup with a single 3 inch run, good
for about another 25 HP. I didn't get the price on this one...
4. Variable ratio springs to lower the vehicle, it's not clear if
that's just an appearance thing or if it would have significant
handling effects or not. Around $900.
Comments on these suggestions are solicited, as to reasonableness for
the intended result and cost effectiveness. Comments from others who
have had similar work done would be especially nice.
These guys say they have modified upwards of 35 S6's with one or more
of these things, which amounts to most of the ones they sell...
