Subject: Audi A4 Audio & misc
hi,
i'm getting mine installed tomorrow...
i asked and it's an Alpine Unit (6-disc) that mounts under
the rear deck inside the trunk. that's how the installation
looks in the Audi A4 video. i also confirmed the "Alpine" info
from a local installer.
he said that they usually come out with the special connector
wires a few months after people start buying the cars, but that
those modules cost $150-200. he also told me they hadn't seen the
one for the A4 yet, but the Las Vegas CES (consumer electronics show)
or something was coming up and they would take a look around. he
basically said it's a 10-minute hookup from the dealer, but it's not
much of a savings through him since the parts are so expensive anyway.
my dealer is charging $640 or $680 (i can't remember here) which is more
than the $400 you'd spend on a separate CD unit. but they've got you
here, and i decided that not having to replace the head unit and
the 3-year "Audi fixies it" warranty was worth it.
i'll report how it looks on friday - until then good luck.
btw, should i write up an A4 "FAQ" to include the many questions
about the A4 that we've seen and are to anticipate?? could we put
it on the web server??
