Interior temp.sensor removal...

Does anyone know how to remove the dash mounted interior temp. sensor on an
87 5kcsTQ? While replacing some guage lights, I tried to access it from the
side, thought perhaps a sliding clip holds it in place, but noooooo, I can't
figure what holds it in place.

To go a step further...I want to replace the vent/inlet to this sensor that
rests on the dash. The sensor works fine, I just don't like looking at the
broken vane on it. Is that part of the sensor, or does it separate from it?
