There have been a few threads on this in the last month or so; check the
archives.  Also, decide on your options (Bose stereo, auto/manual, etc.).
Check the Edmunds site (www.dc.enews.com/magazines/edmunds) for list/dealer
prices, etc.

Sell it yourself if possible, make an extra thou or so (unless you don't
need it).  Trade-in on your car (unless it has extreme low mileage) is going
to be minimal.

Information is the key here - lots of people don't negotiate the price on a
lease, thinking they can't.  Not true, so you have the right idea.  However,
don't fall into the trap - the other big factor on the lease is the residual
value (what they are predicting the car will be worth at the end of the
lease).  If you negotiate down the sales price and they drop the residual
price the same amount you gain zip.  Moral - pay attention to the residual
price as well...........SLM
