The wheels are Speedlines and are made in Italy. They were standard
on the 20v Coupes around 1990 and were available has an optional extra
on other Coupe models.
You occasionally see Audi 80 and 90s fitted with Speedline wheels, but
the Coupe Speedlines had an offset of 37mm and this can cause a
clearance problem in the rear wheel arches of 80s or 90s. The correct
offset for these models is 45mm.
My 10v Coupe has Speedlines. They look great but are a real pain to
keep clean. The original Speedlines are notorious for corroding.
Thousands where replaced under warranty, sometimes many times. When I
got my car a year ago, I had the wheels refurbished and they looked
like new. I have cleaned them nearly every week since and they are
already corroding. The problem is that the rims are polished alloy
instead of painted allow like the rest.
