Long-Life tars

Hey Y'all,

I've recently been seeing ads for tires with tread wear guarantees for (in
one case) as long as you own your car.  One brand was Michelin, but I recall
there were other brands also carrying similar guarantees.

I have difficulty imagining tires which should give that much tread life and
also be capable of suitable performance for spirited road driving.  To wear
that long they would just about have to be hard as steel, wouldn't they?  Is
there any feedback on them?
