Audi's and Motorcycle's

     Hey guys,

I just thought I'd share some of my micelaneous ramblings on this subje
ct. Well, I love motorcycles. But, I do not own one. I do have a Schwinn Woo
dlands mountain bike if that counts for anything. ;) But, I would have a motor
cyle if I had the money. But, unlike a lot of y'all, I would use it for occasi
onal recreational use. It seems that most of y'all are serious riders, and som
e, like Paul Levano, use the motorcycle as thier primary means of transportatio
n. I personally couldn't do this. Bikes are a lot of fun and great, but I cou
ldn't see myself riding it when it's 30 degrees outside, or raining. No thank
you. I'd rather be in my Audi with the ECC set at 75 degrees and listening to
a premium sound system. But, that's just me.

I would however love to have a motorcyle for weekend crusing. Also, I
noticed a lot of you are into them for speed. I would just own one purely for
the purpose of riding around on it so I could feel the wind in my hair on a war
m summer day. I think I'd love to just have something for crusing around the b
ackroads of Dunwoody, Georgia on. I would probably buy a BMW (nice touring bik
e) K100S or a Harley Sportster. That's another thing. I haven't heard one per
son yet say they own, or have owned a harley. I personally think they are over
rated, but I still love them, but that may run in my family. The Sportster is
pretty nice and is not a "big hog". I frequently find myself checking out bike
s, and stopping by Roswell Fun Machines (this place that sells all kinds of bik
es, including BMW, Ducatti, Kawasaki, etc.) But, I also have this fear in the
back of my mind that I could fall, get hit by a car, and even get killed.

Well, we've all heard the stories. You know, that guy who sees you walk
ing into the grocery store with the helmet and feels compelled to tell you his
personal story. "So ya ride, huh?" "yea". "Well, my cousin used to ride to.
C'ept one day he lost control, wen't off the road and ran head on into a thrash
ing machine. Took his head clear off. He won't be shaving for a while!" Gee
thanks pal! I needed to hear that.

But, I also agree with Bob Russell's statement "There are those who have
fallen, and those who will." Very true. If I do, I just hope I'm not doing
60-70 MPH or greater, because I would surely die. And, all a helmet would do t
hen is make your head look nice in the coffin. I'm the guy that would always d
rive very cautiously (whether or not that helps I don't know). Well, I'm sure
I made every one feel real nice, but I'm just rambling here and restating what'
s already been said.

Well, I used to ride dirt bikes a lot as a kid. I never had one, but a
friend of mine did, and I knew a lot of people who did. The weird thing is tha
t I actually felt pretty safe on it, even driving on the backroads with cars, u
ntill this guy at my school was slowing down to make a turn and some idiot behi
nd him ran into the back of him and killed him. BTW, He wasn't wearing a helme
t. Who did? It was a dirt bike, right? Well, that kinda opened my eyes and I
have been real cautious ever since. It's just obvious that there's a lot more
room for error in a car than on a bike. If your in an accident in a car (espec
ially and Audi ;), your chances of survival are in your favor, but it's not tha
t way for bikes.

Charlie, I hope you had a blast in Daytona! Minus the meeting with Mr.
Policeman. That Ducatti sounds sweet! What model is it again? Oh well, it so
unds cool. I love those bikes. BMW's are great too. My uncle goes down to Da
ytona Bike week every year (although, I don't think he was able to make it this
year) and drives his Harley Sturgis there. He lives in Florida so, it's not to
o bad of a drive. Actually I think he puts it in the back of his pickup truck
and brings it up there. Not sure. He's had it for a while. He's also tweaked
it and done a bunch of stuff to it to make it faster (I don't know why, they'r
e pretty fast to begin with). He has fun there, but he said that Bike Week has
gotten a little too crowded and there are too many of those "bad a$$ wannabees
" there. He told me that it's not as fun anymore. I wonder how true that is.
I still wouldn't mind going and just checkin out some killer bikes.

Also, my uncle last year was getting kinda stressed out at work and st
uff, so he decided he was gonna take a two week vacation all to himself last su
mmer and he and some buddies had thier bikes shipped up to Seattle, and they dr
ove them all up into Canada and Alaska. They just cruised to all different pla
ces and checked out the sights and scenery and camped out under the stars. He
came back and said he had more fun on his road trip than he'd had in a log time
and that he actually felt alive again. He had a blast! Sounds like fun, eh?
Sounded like it to me too.
