The only way to access them without major dash destruction is from the
bottom.  Just lower the drivers shelf unit and the glovebox (4 or 5 screws
each).  Look up under the dash and you can see the speaker base.  There are
two screws (#2 phillips) that hold them to the dash.    The air ducts make it
a bit of a pain to access the aft most speaker mount screw, but a stubby
screwdriver worked for me.  I just replaced mine with factory Audi speakers,
($28.00 each from the dealer).  Took all of 40 minutes.  The new ones sound
much better.  If you are replacing with factory speakers the Part #'s are:
left=811 035 399 E 01Z, right=811 035 400 E 01Z.  The 01Z is color code for
Brazilian Brown.  I believe there are at least two more interior colors
(black & dark gray).  Good luck...
