Re: Octane levels vs...?

Avgas is high octane gasoline and will do pretty well in your gasoline
engine. It's been so long since I bought any that I couldn't even begin to
guess the price. It comes in two main flavors, 80 octane and 100 octane. I
seem to recall another higher octane rating also, but it's been so long I'm
kinda fuzzy on it. I'm not sure, but I believe the octane ratings here are
arrived at differently from the ratings at your corner gas station. 80
octane avgas is pretty good stuff. It's also probably illegal to put it in
                                                 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Yup, definitely!

Also bear in mind that until fairly recently, most of the "good stuff"
(high-octane avgas) got that way via massive quantities of "lead", and
will kroak off your car's cat in no time at all . . . (which of course
is not a problem for all of you outlaw gearheads, um Audiistii, with
"fixed" cats!)

Heh heh
