Smorgasboard, Mr. Jettis 87tq, Black Again !

Hi all !

I read EC's article on Carl Jerritts' 87 5ktq with great interest the last few days.
I was really curious where Carl got the neat looking front grill for his car, so I
phoned him this morning. Carl was very gracious in answering all of my questions
about the mods to his tq. However the shocker is, the front grill is from ABT
and can only be purchased from ABT in Germany. Cost is a staggering
$700 smackers ! :-O WOW ! Guess i'll have to save my milk money a little
while longer ! :-) I thought he got shortchanged somewhat on the length of
the article and pics that could have really shown what he's done.

I talked to my nephew in Cedar Rapids, Ia this weekend ; his wife is
preg with 3rd child, needs to sell his Audi, wants a mini van (yuk!) Unfortunately
it is not a Q. Here are the stats:

1990 Audi 100, metallic black, grey cloth, Goodyear GA's, 88,xxx miles. Everything
else standard stuff. Price asking $9,000 obo. Call 319-393-0914 ask for Scott
leave message if not home.

Now for the "I need help please " department. My recent purchase, 87 5ktq, is
experiencing a starting/fuel prob. In the morning, it takes 5-10 seconds to start
and then it idles very rough for another 15-30 seconds. Slight revving seems to
"help" the car smooth out. I put it in gear and take off slowly and the engine
runs and idles smooth as silk. I arrive at my destination . .groc store, gas station
work, watering hole, et al . . and it starts hard and idles rough again, even has
stalled/died on me a couple of times after moving 10-15 feet. What gives ????
I read the posting, sorry can't remember who had the good idea, about unhooking
the ISV and shooting carb cleaner into it. I tried that, and it seemed to help alot !
But it didn't solve the prob completely. Am I due for a new fuel pump ? Fuel filter?
fuel injectors bad? I have run 2 bottles of Chevron techron and a bottle of 104
octane boost to try and clean the system/prob. Any and all suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. I know the audi gods are just toying with me and having some
fun watching me squirm in frustration and embarrasment.

I was in Des Moines today and I stopped in my fav auto body / paint supply store to
pick up some more clear coat cleaner. Right next to it were 2 bottles, Black Again(tm)
and Somethin' Else(tm). I heard about this stuff but never saw it locally. I purchased
some, got home and tried the Black Again on the bumpers and trim, wow!!!! nice stuff !
makes everything look brand new ! no "greasy kid stuff" feel, like
all the other products I have tried. Somethin' Else is the same only for interiors. Very
nice, not much smell~, and best of all, my seat (drivers) is showing some wear as the
leather is checking a bit and the steering wheel finish is coming off. I rubbed a little,
(size of a dime) on the seat and presto !!! it hid the checks like magic. Granted
you can still see them, but for someone that hasn't seen it before, it is barely
noticeable. The stuff was - $14.00 for Black Again & $10.00 for Somethin' Else. I don't sell
it so don't flame me, just trying to pass along a good product and a solution to
a good clean (non-greasy) interior.

Last Item:

To all Iowa Quattro/Audi fans & enthusiasts, I am starting the Iowa Chapter Quattro Club.
If there are some of you out there wanting to be a part of it, please email me asap so I
can get a complete list formulated for the charter membership. Darin Nederhoff is helping
me with this. He's a computer whiz as he made an IA Q Club homepage for us already !
More details to follow for those interested.
