Clutch noise

Spring Greetings 

I have noticed an on again/off again sqeek when I depress and let out 
my clutch.  It's coming from the engine compartment, not interior by 
the pedal.  Shop said it was coming from slave cylinder and they tried 
lubercating, but really could not get to the areas without taking 
things apart.  They said it was coming from where the shaft coming out 
of the slave cylinder and the part it connects to is making the noise. 
I am ignorant of what the slave cylinder looks like, so hope that 
description does justice!

He did not think it was of any concern, just needing lubercating.  Is 
this an indication I may loose my clutch in downtown or interstate 
traffic anytime soon?  Does it sound like something one of you have had 
and fixed differently from lubercation?  Appreciate any info.
