I don't know about the Audi Bose system, but on the GM-Cadillac Bose 
system, they use one 3.5" full range speaker - no tweeters!  I can see 
the complaint of not enough highs.  That's one nice 3.5" speaker though!  
I did some pink noise analysis of it, and it really is flat, and fairly 
broad-ranged.  I think it would make a fine midrange driver in a proper 
3-way system.
