200T Alternator Problem?

My '90 200 Turbo has just passed 100K miles and works great. However,   
today, the alternator light and anti lock off lights both started to stay   
on when driving. This likely means the alternator is kaput. How likely is   
it that the problem is the voltage regulator and/or brushes. Is it worth   
the gamble of replacing them on the chance they will fix it?
