V8 Shift Indicator

Michael LaRosa asked about the shift indicator on his
V8 coming up with all the lights on. This also will be
accompanied by the transmission defaulting to 3 rd gear
only. This is the failure mode and usually corrects itself
on restart. The condition is in the owners manual. Mine 
has done this ocasionally. So far, restart will restore it.

'90 V8, 99.5k miles
'92 100S, less than 50k
