You describe the same problem I had. The speed sensor for the ABS reads
gaps or teeth around the hub of each wheel. If the ABS *thinks* it
is getting an improper reading, it shuts the ABS down. Previous
posts (check the archives) recently (within 3 weeks?) have talked
about proper clearances between the sensor and the teeth. I just
pushed one of mine in until it hit the teeth, and then backed it
out slightly - works fine now. The sensor has a bolt which keeps it
from backing out, but is a press fit otherwise.
