RE: Mt Washington Hillclimb

There are campgrounds nearby. You could even sign up as an SCCA worker and be part of the action!
There is camping allowed right at the base of the mountain for officials, workers, racers, crew, etc. Perhaps you could hook up with one of the teams as crew..... Your next best bet on places to stay & campgrounds would be to call the local Gorham NH Chamber of Commerce, or perhaps try the Glen & Mt. Washington Stage Co, the guys that own/run the Auto Road, also in Gorham, NH, or try in Glen, NH. 
(yep, I own a whole town, a river, a gorge, a bridge, the Auto Road, a hotel and several other properties in the area :)
There are fireworks on Sat night, a car show in town Fri night, a cookout, awards on Sun pm, LOTSAH quattros around, racing and street, a classic car show Sun am at the base, get to meet John Buffum & other Pro-Rally drivers & navigators, etc, etc.
