I would not buy a new distributor just cuase the hall sender
went south.  I don't know your cat, but some rebuild kits
are available for earlier cars.  I had to learn how to make
a 5K part work in the UrQ, but I did it.  It's all just timing.
If the rebuild fits in differently, change the clocking on the
vane assemble accordingly to get the same timing output from
the sensor.  Can do that with a set of jewlers files by
adding a new keyway into the vaned shutter.
