4kcsQ Upgrades, springs are in
4000cs Quattro fans
I recently finished installing a set of H&R springs and Boge cartiges in m
'87.
The car feels much better, no more acceleration liftoff or braking dive.
Corners are a lot more stable. Thanks to everyone who responded with
advice. A large pair of Channellocks worked fine for removing and tightening
the caps over the strut cartriges. I made some notes, if anyone is
interested
in some pointers before starting this job for the first time. I have had
found good
prices getting OEM parts mail order from IPC in Fresno, CA (ad in "European
Car").
Does anyone know of a source of performance parts for 4kQs? Things like rear
stablizer bars, guages, etc. Has anyone ever seen a skid plate below the
engine?
Dropping the car by 1.5" has made me more aware that the oil pan is often the
first line of defense against curbs and other obsticles!
A while ago I had asked if my door mirrors should be red, matching the rest
of the car.
Apparently there is an '87 special edition 4kcsQ that has painted mirrors.
Nothing
very special about mine. I did recently see a '86 4kcsQ anniversary
addition, white with
stock white rims and red leather interior, black mirrors. It also had
european headlamps,
one piece dual beam and fog light with no amber corner lights(an upgrade).
Nice but
out of my bugget.
