Anticipating the Audi Gods - NOT!

Last Saturday when I cruised a couple of my favorite junkyards I spied a
good heater control valve. Said to myself - "That would be a good thing to
have as a spare" (After talking to the Audi Gods so much, this becomes a
natural extension). Sunday bought a gallon of non-phosphate Sierra
environmentally friendly coolant ($6.49) and changed it out Monday, same day
I replace an AC hose (48.00), and drop off the Speedo for repair.
Thursday, on my way back to work (wearing Summer Whites - for those not
militarily inclined, thats white shoes, socks, pants, underwear, shirt, and
hat. Kinda like a milkman with medals) I get a low coolant warning light.
Pull in, shut her down, pop the hood - split heater control valve...
Hah! I sez... Got on in the back seat. Throw a towell over the fender,
break out the tools, swap it out, fill the car up with environmentally
friendly water (not getting a mark on the uniform in the process). 10
minutes later I'm on my way - feeling pretty full of myself.

That afternoon, on the way home - stop at Winn-Dixie for 10 minutes for the
ritual box of Heavenly Hash ice cream. Come out, car goes "aruuhhh". Walk
home carrying said ice cream in 95 degree weather. Go back two hours later,
starts ever so barely... Drive to Autozone, spending 63.00 for a new battery.
