I fixed mine using 3M epoxy #2216. This epoxy is better on plastics than some
others. Many epoxies keep on hardening and get brittle after time. This one
is supposed to retain some flexibility. Make sure to get the grease off of
the shaft.

Hope to see some of you on Sat at Mt Washington!

So far so good ... about 20K miles and still working.

On the subject of dysfunctional odometers, I noticed that when
mine failed, it wasn't due to a stripped gear or anything, but
rather that the gear is simply spinning on the shaft that it's
supposed to turn. Any bets on whether a fix as simple as a
couple drops of Loctite 271 (red) might do the trick? Or epoxy
or some such?

I still have the old one, maybe I'll experiment and see what
I can come up with.
