Help! '86 4k Coupe GT: Fuel Injector Control Unit needed!

I just found out from my trusty mechanic the reason for my recent stalling
and rough running:  my fuel injector control unit got soaked by water 
leaking in from the bad seal on my windshield (at least that's our current
theory - new windshield on order).

Mechanic found the dealer price - $1350 (Cdn)!!  No such part available in
the whole province, nearest one is in Vancouver for $450.  Still hurts, since
I just put in a different clutch for big bucks.  Any other suggestions? 
He said any 4000 from '85-'87 should do the trick, not just a Coupe.
