Re: Maaco, Reliable??
I have had one experience with MAACO. In 1984 I was restoring my 3.0CS
coupe and the body shop where the work was being done went out of
business before they could complete the work. So the car was pretty
well prepped (but not masked). I found out they went belly-up when I
got a call from them informing me that my car was at MAACO at I could
pick it up there. You can imagine the sinking feeling in my stomach. I
was pleasantly surprised, however, as they actually did a decent job on
the paint. It was 2-step, etc and looked pretty good for a $399 paint
job. There was a LOT of overspray on the trim and in the interior,
but once I cleaned that up... In fact, it lasted for 10 years and when I
told other BMW types that it was a Maaco $399 special, they were very
skeptical.
