Re: Rear shocks for 5000 Turbo Quattro
> Is there any source for aftermarket rear shocks?
You have a few options. When I pulled my ('87 5kTQ) suspension apart this
weekend, I found Monroe gas-matics all the way around, so that's apparently an
option (not one I'd recommend, mind you.) Boge makes shox for your car, Koni
makes shox for your car, and I beleive you would find that Mr. Fletcher
(STEADIRIC) may have an application for your vehicle. Be forwarned, when I
pulled my rear suspension apart, I found that the rear spring perches were
welded (yes, there's a weld there, no it isn't just stuck, yes I verified this
with five people) to the shox, meaning you've gotta buy new perches from the
dealer. So, don't start this project at a time that you may find yourself
needing additional parts before you can get it back together again (Friday
night for instance, knowing that Audi parts is closed 'till Monday morning), or
you'll find yourself driving a Chebby to work Monday. Not that I have first
hand experience or anything...
