Not sure how it was actually equipped on the Iltis, but that engine
is basically the water-cooled inline four as found on all Audi 80
(Fox and 4000 in the U.S.) and VW Dasher/Rabbit/Scirocco models
of that vintage. I would guess from the time frame of this that
would be either a 1.5 or 1.6 liter unit putting out roughly 74
horsepower.
The book "Audi Quattro Development and Competition History" by
Jeremy Walton has a good description of how the Iltis inspired
the Quattro program at Audi.
