Audi 200 headlight update

I just recently got a headlight replaced on my '91 200 Quattro and
noticed something peculiar.  A lot more light out of that side.  I
haven't tried replacing the bulb on the un-broken light yet, but
it almost seems as if the stock replacement has a much better
beam pattern and more light.  
Has anybody else noticed this?  
At $342 ($171/side) from Carlsen this is surely not as good as a set 
of the Euro lights, but compared to $750 or so (Peter?) this might be
a lot cheaper.
