HELP: can't get max boost after new timing belt - 5kcstq
I just had the timing belt, water pump, idler pulley, and all the accessory
belts replaced yesterday and somehow it seems to have affected my boost
reading.
I know, I know the digital boost gauge is not accurate, but from a before and
after point of view, it now reads lower than it used to.
With the IA stage 1mod, I would see a max reading of 1.7 and a minimum
reading (foot off gas, coasting) of 0.3, unless on long downhill stretches at
highway speeds where I could *sometimes* see 0.1 or 0.0, SOMETIMES.
Now the max is 1.5 and I see 0.1 or 0.0 regularly. So it actually looks like
the reading is "skewed" downward by 0.2. Hmmmmmm...
I am heading out right now to check all hoses, etc. but I also wondered if
the timing belt is one tooth off or something. Would that cause boost
readings to change?
It was suggested to me some time ago that bumping the cam timing one tooth
advance would move the power band down a bit. I thought they also said that
I would see the same boost though.
PDQSHIP are you out there?
Otherwise the car seems to run fine, power is good, idle stable, etc.
Any input from the wisdom on the list would be most appreciated.
I'll check my mail frequently hoping for some help...
TIA
