Maybe.... and maybe not,  but this is one of the tricks that the racing 
community has used in the past.  

And it also should be noted that an instructor in VW school once told me 
that the main problem with VW/Audi engines is that they run too lean.  
"You either have a vacuum leak in the engine compartment or in the Damn 
computer."

P.S.  he also uses the rehostat trick to dial in more power on his GTI.
