Re: 5000 Hood Release

-- [ From: human * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] --

Should be. All the 80's vintage oooo's I've had use a pair of release
levers conveniently hidden behind the headlights (toward the inner side of
the inner light) which are normally pulled toward the center of the car when
the cable is pulled. They are independent, you release one, then the other.
It can take some wriggling and coaxing to grab them with - coat hanger,
fireplace poker, whatever you use. It has sometimes been easier throught
the hole where the side light is (US models) if you can get the side light
out.

The cables are cheap, which is a joke on all of us whoever rigged nifty
"aftermarket" ways to release the hood (bonnet) of our fancy imported
automobiles. PAP in USA charged me about $15.00 I think, and I had them
toss in a bunch of used fittings (sometimes the golf tee like sleeves start
to disintegrate.

good luck

Subject: 5000 Hood Release

I cannot open the bonnet (hood) of my 1983 Avant. The cable must have
broken somewhere in the engine compartment. Does anyone know how I
can open it manually. The Bentley for the 4000 series shows a couple
of catches you could press - is the 5000 series the same? Thanks in
advance.
