You know, I understand it when people call me Don in person. Easy
to mistake Dan for Don. Seems to happen a lot. But in
writing?!? I think the gods are suggesting I change my name... :-)

I chose to stick with the stock unit, and my investment in the
Audi CD changer has me stuck there. I decided to stay stock
mostly for aesthetic reasons, and for the reasons you allude to
above... so far I've upgraded the fronts to Polk components, and
will eventually do rears and add amps. However, I'm beginning
to regret the stock decision, due to the incredibly poor FM
performance.
If you're going to listen to recorded material in the car a lot,
I'd say stock is fine. But if you expect to do most of your
listening on FM, I'd suggest living with the car for a month before
deciding one way or another. IMO, the FM has poor sensitivity,
very poor selectivity, and the audio is very strongly colored.
