IMHO, *this* is how elections should be held. However, given the geographic
diversity of the QCUSA membership, I think the BMW CCA procedures would work
a lot better: Once nominated by two members, all candidates are allowed some
space in the club magazine to make a statement about why members should vote
for them. After that, ballots are mailed to each member and returned to the
club's CPA firm for counting ... I find this to be nice, neat and as fair as
possible to both the candidates and membership.

With the present election procedures, this would NOT be possible. IMHO, the
reason the Board setup their convoluted procedure was to keep this from ever
happening to them...

This is as it should be ... nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, I'd recommend avoiding them as well. Of course, when you have
something you want to say to the Board (as I do), it would be nice to know
where and when they're meeting so you can show up and do so in person. As
it now stands, QCUSA's Board meetings appear to be held in secrecy...
