This sounds like a bad idea to me. The bushing will crack and won't be
of much use any further. What we do on our car's is to treat the bushings
with a very slight amount of vacuum grease ( Dow Corning Silicon grease
is the best ). This vacuum grease is specially made to protect rubber material.
This grease is also very helpfull to install the old style bushings because
it is very slippery and without some lubricant you might not be able to
install them.
