Re: Shocks and Springs for 1990 Coupe Quattro
Peter, related question, if I could. Where did you find the
Konis for the Coupe? I called up Koni Headquarters in the
US and they said they were not available for the Coupe
Quattro (neither were Bilsteins or Tokico Illuminas; settled
for the Boges, which feel no better than the ones I took off
that had 100,000 miles).
As far as ride height, this is what I know from Porsche 911
experience. If both old and new shocks are not pressurized,
ride height should NOT be affected. Was the rubber bump stops
raising the ride height? If the shocks are gas pressurized, all
bets are off; it depends on the gas pressure in each one.

Subject: Shocks and Springs for 1990 Coupe Quattro
Listers, especially Coupe Q owners:
I'm about to order Koni ext. adjustable shocks for the
Coupe Quattro. I'm thinking about also getting a set
of H&R springs for it. However, the springs lower the
car 1.25 inches...I'd feel more comfortable with less
than 1 inch drop, in order to avoid bump steer.
Question: When I installed similar Konis in my old
16V Scirocco, with the stock springs, the ride height
actually increased. Will this also be a factor in
determining the new ride height.(I.E. will the new
height then be less than a 1.25 inch drop?)
Thanks!
