Headlights

Hi all,

A couple of questions relating to 1989 Audi 100 E:

I have a problem, the light on my car is bad. Not at all the 
same "brightness" as my Nissan 300 ZXTT. Now it is getting 
darker and I hate driving without proper ligt (NOT uncommon 
to in Texas if they even have ANY lights lit).

I can see that the headlight's glass are somewhat "milky 
white". Are those acrylic or glass ones? Glass should not 
fade like this, so I assume acrylic. The car is always 
parked out of the sun (I bought it in May) so sun should not 
make it any worse from now on.

Is there a "fix" other than to replace the hole headlight 
assembly? Can I just replace the "glass" or even better, can 
I mount European headlights in the same mechanical mounting 
hardware? If not, would a European glass fitr on a DOT 
approved assembly?
