Re: 4kq Header Pipe.

Jack,
I've been buying my header pipes for the 4kq's from ANSA
distributors, at around $135. Ansa it seems is in the buisness of
making these elusive pipes. A small market but still available if you
shop around. I'm really looking for a stainless unit, however cost would
too high for most folks.

What I did is, ported the header, then got the down pipe and header
Jet Hot coated ! Sweet ! Its the high luster silver and it looks good,
stays cooler by far and is impervious to everything!! It only cost $150
and it guarenteed for life!!

The muffler shop sounds to be wanting a kings ransom for a peasants
labor, but any time you pay someone else to do a job its gonna cost.

Its not that difficult to do, especially if you have several long
socket extension. Namely about 2 feet worth. This makes the job
a breeze. Your only enemy will be the rust, or how badly things
are rusted. Most muffler shops use impact tools, for the express
purpose of "braking" things! Especially rusted studs! If this occurs
the manifold will have to come off! (bad news for you=more cash for
muffler shop) Lube all bolts with a good penetating oil, do it
liberally and let stand a while before you attempt removal.
