The VW wheels won't work on your 80 'cause the bolt pattern is wrong. 
As I'm sure you're aware, the VW wheels are a 4x100 bolt pattern.  All
of the Q's in the 4K/80 series use a 4x108 pattern.

I'm guessing that the reason you were able to use Audi wheels on your
Jetta was that they came off of an early generation non-quattro 4K car.
(1980-1984)  On those cars Audi did use a 4x100 pattern.
