I cant get it off (wax)

I have made the mistake of trying to wax the lower plastic panels of my 4000 
and I cant get the wax out of the pores and chips in the plastic.  Has anyone 
done this and successfully removed the wax.  I have tried rubbing it very hard 
and it comes out if I apply 400psi but I cant do that for the whole lower 
valance.  Is there any type of wax remover that might work.  I have some 
Sikkens M600 degreaser and I tried that on a small spot but it didn't take it 
off.  I am afraid to try goof off or equivalent because of possible paint 
damage.  

I need to do something because it looks awful the way it is.  And what is the 
best way to protect it since wax is not a good idea.
