Misc., including Audi content
Audi content: Saw a good idea on another news group - they have a list of
"don't leave home without 'em" spares which they keep in the trunk of the
car, so that when the fan belt pops in Ghastly, Wyoming, you already have a
spare on hand.
Should we (or is there already) have a list of most common/hard to get
breakdown parts? Yes, I know Audis are great cars, and I really am fond of
my "agricultural" 5KCS, but as we all know, everything breaks sometimes.
(Fan belt/power steering belt/an injector/quart of Pentosin/headlight
bulb/fuses/relay #XX/etc.?)
Non-Audi content: Harrier vs. Police radar: Heard a similar story from a
fighter jock based at Nellis - seems they were getting speeding tickets on
the way into town - 70 miles - nothing out there except a billboard or two -
straight road - until one day some hot rock in an F-4 buzzed a police car.
The F-4 was at about 50 feet altitude and on full afterburner, and came at
the police car from behind - KABOOOOM!!!!!!! (also sounds of shattering
glass, melting radar gun, and large dent in roof of car where occupant tried
to jump straight up and hit head - hard!) I'm told they stopped getting
tickets after that! Don't know if it's true story or not, but if it isn't,
it ought to be!
Harley - H-D is not a motorcycle - it is a 24kt, full blown RELIGION! You
can't logic or argue with that kind of thing - However, here's a hint - I
have never, ever met or even heard of a woman who would decline a ride on
the back of a Harley - this is NOT a sexist opinion, NOT male chauvinism or
testosterone poisoning, etc. - just observation of 35 years in and around
motorcycle business. I'm not particularly a fan of H-D (Have 2 old BMW
bikes), but looking at H-Ds from a logical/mechanical/economics viewpoint
misses the point entirely - it's about IMAGE and SEX! PERIOD. End of Harley
thread, at least from here. (No offense intended, but Nomex on just in case.)
