FWIW, I don't use anti-seize compound on my lug bolts but do bead-blast them
at low pressure every now-and-again to keep them clean. I also use a tap to
chase the holes once a year or so ... never had any problems but I do rotate
my wheels at every oil change so they're checked regularly.

That said, long-time subscribers to this list will recall that I had a front
brake caliper mounting bolt fall off my 5k about this time last year. Guess
what? They were so difficult to get off when I installed the SS brake lines
that I put anti-seize on all of them when I put them back ... in a matter of
six weeks, one fell off the car and two of the remaining three came loose to
the point where I could spin them out with my fingers! Anti-seize certainly
has its place but clearly this isn't one of them and neither are lug bolts!
