Why can't BMW catch the A4Q on the track, then - despite a 45kg weight
 advantage?

Becuz, when you go to 300hp (and increase the power to weight at the same
time by ditching those luxo acutriments), the argument for All Wheels Driving
becums more of an issue.... Since both cars in street form are under that
(save the EC M3), the argument does change some.... I would also propose
that the A4q is nothing like it's road brother, 1) the electronic variable
F/R bias, from 80/20 and vv, from IN the cockpit makes for a leetle bit of
advantage on the track.... Me, I would expect that to be a ruling soon on
that too... Most of the racing audis did not use a torsen or an open diff,
but were preset to a specific f/r bias (usually 65/35 +) for each race, and
this is a first for cocpit adj.... 2) The mods to the rear suspension of
which you speak, and the front is liteyears ahead of the old 36 MS on the
bmw, puts a real unfair advantage to the audis on the track.... But to date,
audi hasn't translated all of that advantage to the street, maybe tweeked
A4tq's, but here at least, the M3 will be a cheaper buy for the performance,
and an transferrable extended warrantee to boot.... Thge A4q is selling
like hotcakes here, and mostly on price, so performance will HAVE to come
from the 1.8tq..... That is a big project, esp considering the displacement
of an I6 @ 3/.2 Liters.....

Don't knock the 1.8T, BTW. ABT has it up to 420bhp. They say they won't be

able to do as much with the V6.
>>>> Not in 1.8L displacement Phil, read the specs.... I assure you, that
"team speed", of which I am being recruited, will do everything possible to
get that 330hp target, but I believe that driveability beyond 200hp in a
4valve is not easy @1.8L, add in the extra vavle, and I just don't see 100+
drivable hp there, and right now, in this project, the 1.8L displacement is a
"given".... Don't get me wrong, I am committed to see the project.... Just
might have some trick turbos in the equation, too..... The ball is rolling,
hope it works...

Phil....

Across the rear suspension. It's also curved, so there is a stretch
component
available. The whole suspension is aerofoiled. There's more engineering
under
the car than on top, I suspect. It was the only bit they weren't keen on me

 photographing.

So you got some pix.... Can you File them and post to D'Amato's home page,
or somewhere where the droolers can see them? I'll bet if they knew who you
were, some muscle might have been applied to the pix denial.... :)
