q list post

I’ll try real hard to keep this short...I found “the list” a couple weeks
back and have been reading the digest version with great interest ever since.
I have been a quattro fanatic for many years now and had no idea this
information resource existed-I am very happy to have found it. My current
quattro (there have been 5 so far...) is a 85 4ksq with 154k. I keep it
pretty much stock and maintained. I do have some questions for y’all on this
here list though...

1. Window regulator is stuck up. Switch is okay (subbed it and lights dim
when pressed). Is this the cable? And/or, should I just change the whole
regulator? I have not yet removed door panel as I want to have whatever parts
required first.

2. I bought this car because I couldn’t stand being quattro-less after
loosing my 87 5kcstqw to my ex-wife but was poor at the time. I love the 4kq
(my first q and have now had 3 of ‘em) but lust for the power of the turbo. I
fear the increased reliability problems of the larger (older only, can’t
afford a S4/6 right now) turbo versions vs. my incredibly reliable 4ksq. What
to do...keep the 4ksq and love it for what it is-which I believe is a great,
almost magical, package (sans hp) -or- bite the big one and move into a 5ktq
or early 200q...any comments or suggestions?

3. I was once a quattro club member and have lost touch with the club after
my divorce and move 3 years ago. I gather they still exist but their web page
is “under construction”. I would like to re-join...can anybody here steer me
in the right direction? Is there any regional activity here in CA. yet?

4. Anybody have any info on when (if?) Audi will be racing in the US again? I
feel very lucky to have witnessed the debut of the Trans-Am 200Q at Long
Beach (no respect was given that weekend and they did much better than
expected...no surprise to me though), Walter Roerl in the rain at practice at
Sears Point-whatta show!, and last but not least the next year (1989) the
IMSA 90Q edging Jean Alesi in a Ferrari F-40 for pole and the win at Laguna
Seca. As a motor sports fanatic, photographer, and quattro nut...I truly hope
to see them (Audi Sport) compete on our side of the pond again (NA Touring
Cars perhaps?).

Thanks to all on the list re: the seat heater repair thread-I will be trying
that one real soon. Aside from that and the window reg. my car is tight and
problem free for now...just wanting more hp real bad! Sorry for the long
winded post-I’ll be more brief in the future...just wanted to introduce
myself and get this all out.
