1989 90Q 2.3E Questions
Hi all,
As the 200K km mark on my 1988 80 1.8S is rapidly getting near, I'm
starting to look at a replacement. I know, please don't flame me for this,
Audis can do more and it *does* feel like it's only just been run in! But
it appears that the rest of the world doesn't know this, and my car is
valued accordingly at trade-in time.
So, leafing through the Dutch Auto Trader yesterday, perusing some UrQs
(too expensive for daily running IMO), a few 100s and V8s (a bit too large
for my tastes, not to mention heavy on fuel) and lots of post-91 80s and
Coupes (too expensive still) I happened upon a nice-looking 1989 90Q 2.3E
at a fair price. As it's basically the same as my 80, I feel I can spot
potential trouble, apart from two things.
My question to you all: Any checks on the quattro system (what to look out
for) and the 2.3, 5cyl engine (apart from things like blue smoke on accel,
or rough running)
Please respond to me privately on tnas@dtpdirect.nl so I can look at this
car with reasonable confidence tonight. I hope this turns out OK, I've
always wanted a Q!
TIA!
Tom

I think animal testing is a terrible idea;
they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
