Front end noises and vibration in a Coupe

Hi!
Up to now I thought the way to tell a failing driveshaft was to
drive around a corner and hear for noises. Well my car (1982 Coupe)
has developed something that I can not solve unless I take the whole
thing apart. Beeing a student I just do not have the time to look
for ghosts.
1. Car developed a steering wheel shake when brakes applyed at
80-100 km/h ( nothing can be felt through the pedal).
2. If you've ever heard failed hydroulic lifters picture the same
noise only at highway speeds with the power on or off not cruising.
The noise is road speed related not engine speed related.
3. It seams to be comming from passanger side wheel well area and
lately the pinging (lifter type) noise comes with a vibration through
the shifter.
4. Visual inspection revealed no loose bolts or rubbing of any
sorts and the noise and vibration come and go whenever. The steering
vibration due to braking is there alwas (I have balanced all 4 wheels
and the tires are not out of round).
If any ane knows what the couse of the problem is it would save me a
lot of time looking for the answer. By the way did I mention how
much school sucks.
