In reguards to the coolant, 

I watched an 86 GTI literally blow the hood off the car from the coolant 
exploding, after developing a leak! Yes he had it mixed correctly. 

VW & Porsche magazine did an article on this a few years back. I too had 
considered using the coolant because of the zero pressure operation!
Only to be discouraged after the GTI incedent.  I have also heard Mecca 
has been working on coolant to "reduce" its bad nature! 

I've never followed up though, sorry!
