Re: distributer cap manipulation



Interesting posts on the distributer manipulations.

On my 86 Coupe I run an adjustable cam sprocket at 2 degrees advance!
It works,(ask NED) and it brings the torque peak down in the rpm range. 
Setting it the otherway puts the torque peak higher into the rpm range.
Anything above 2.5 degrees either way, and it doesnt run quite well.
With the sprocket you must reset the distributer back to the factory 
setting, for 93 octane pump gas! Racing 106 octane is a different story!

Also some of the "electronicly controlled" ignitions will counter what 
you dial in on the distrib, up to a certain point!

The early VW racers(Darrel Vittone) were twisting distrib's long before
the introduction of knock sensors!
