QCUSA Elections [WAS: Re: New List rules and etiquete]
> QCUSA member #210 (vote early and vote often)
Steve flys blythely into the face of q-listequette ...
Thanks for the reminder Dave! I am extremely sorry about the breach of
the rules with the discussion of the QCUSA elections, but I think this is
an opportunity for those of us on the q-list to affect the elections in
our favor ...
QCUSA members should be receiving their board of directors ballots in a
copy of the quattro quarterly. I suggest that we decide as a group which
candidates will support our desires for free flow of information from QC-
central to the membership [and cheaper events :]. What I am thinking is
that we can compile information about the candidates to supplant the info
in q^2. If there is someone on the q-list that knows any of the candi-
dates and can provide some personal background about them ... or at least
lives close enough to the candidates to be able to speak with them directly
we can collect this information and make it available to the list members.
I personally would prefer that we recommend three names to fill the three
slots. If we really want to get into this I suppose we could even come up
with a questionnaire ...
To minimize the list traffic, I will volunteer to coordinate the collection
process, and will suggest that anyone on the q-list that is interested in
the election send a direct e-mail to me rather than the list. I will make
sure that any information that is submitted is disseminated to those that
have expressed an interest, and I don't think that it would be too much of
an abuse to post the final results of the study to the q-list. I wish I
had my list of the nominees with me here today ... if anyone is interested
I can forward it to you. FYI, I was a member of the nominating committee,
and I really think that we have a number of good peple to choose from. My
personal opinion is that if we can work together to help ourselves (and
frankly QCUSA) by doing this.
... cautiously donning the Nomex ... :-)
