     At just over 50K miles, my 100 CSQ Wagon (automatic) started doing 
     this.  As soon as it warmed up, fluid came out of the breather, 
     dripped on the catalytic converters and produced a lovely and fragrant 
     cloud.  It also became progressively more reluctant to shift into 
     fourth gear.  A couple of independent shops were clueless.  I 
     reluctantly took it to the dealer.  Their verdict was that I needed a 
     new transmission.  Of course, remove and replace does seem to be their 
     solution to most problems.  But they replaced it and Audi picked up 
     the tab.
