Common belief in UK was that 5E was E for economy gear on GT 5E.
I think that at that time all the UK GT 5 cyl coupes were 5E, and did come
loaded with electric windows, central locking & alloys.

The later injection cars in UK didn't bother with any abreviations, they had
Fuel Injection badge on boot (trunk) lid, in a script font.

I don't disagree about E being used for injection on German cars, I have one of
the originals, a 1977 Opel Kadett Coupe GTE where the E is definitely for
injection!
