Your idle stabilizing went kaput. To check it, touch it while the car is
running, it should vibrate, if it does not, the possibilities are: bad idle
stabilizer, bad wiring, bad idle stabilizer programmer, I  am not sure
where the idle stabilizer is located on the 80  (idle stabilizer is
located, "maybe" on top of your valve cover in one end of it, you will see
a cylinder shape solenoid with an electrical connection). To solve your
immediate problem plug the hoses that lead from the engine to the idle
stabilizer, that should take care of your idle surging. try that and let me
know.
