A4 1.8T test drive...
My local dealer finally got in a 1.8T, albeit a FWD 5-sp auto no sports
package or 16" rims, so I took it for a quick spin the other night. I must
say that I am really impressed by this new engine. It is much more refined
than the I-5 10v turbo in my 5k, plus it seems alot more powerful, even
though I know it's not. One complaint, though, and I noticed it on the 2.8
A4 also: The brakes are WAY too sensitive. I don't know about y'all, but I
like just a little more pedal travel than the A4 gives and not as much power
assist. Reminds me of some of those big American boats, er cars :)
Anyways, the auto tranny was not that bad, and this car really moved.
Smooth as silk, too. I don't remember the A4 2.8 feeling like this, but
then I was comparing that to the VR6 under the hood of my Corrado, and to me
there is no comparison (not trying to start a controversy, so don't flame me!)
Back to the 1.8T...has anyone seen the Jacquard satin cloth interior that is
an option? Is it like the cloth seats on the WMB Z3 roadster? And also,
what are the potential horsepower numbers on a 1.8t with a chip upgrade?
TIA!
