parking break

Germans don't use the parking brake in winder, at least not on level ground.
They just drop the car into first gear and leave the handbrake off.
Bear this in mind if ever you rent a car in Frankfurt Airport. Yes, the car is
park "nose in" to the concrete wall. And yes, it's in first gear. And yes,
the parking brake is off. Turn the starter, and the car will leap forward into
the wall.
